Insights from the founderDavid Edwards

Here is a collection of some of the sayings from PMA Power's founder:

David Edwards

Constitution Coach. Founder of PMA Power

PMA Power is a part of David vs Goliath Ministries and teaches how to keep your business and activities a matter of a private contractual obligation.

“I have been in Law since 1984 and teaching the protections of the private domain for over 26 years now... I have never been a licensed attorney. If I had followed through on that path I would have restrictions of public law imposed and wouldn't be able to do what I do now." - (Paraphrased)

David Edwards

“ The biggest obstacle to overcome is the obstacle of a mindset that thinks that it needs permission from an authority figure, especially when that authority has no authority in the first place!" - (Paraphrased)

David Edwards

“Now that you own a PMA of your own, if you find yourself asking the question, "Can I...", the answer with regard to what you can do in with own business, within your own PMA is almost always, "Yes! You can!" - (Paraphrased)

David Edwards

“Let me write this in large letters! Please stop asking for permission! We need to learn to function in our own PMAs, as people who actually own our own PMAs. It is your own business and that is private when it is conducted in the private domain!" - (Paraphrased)

From the website

"Should you decide the PMA or unincorporated Ministry is the best option for you, the PMA Advisors can assist you with properly preparing your founding documents to establish your PMA/Ministry. Proper preparation may be the most important decision you'll make related to the PMA/Ministry. Every protection you have the ability to invoke will be determined by the wording within your founding documents and every protection you give up will also be determined by the wording of your founding documents. Make sure these are drafted properly to maximize the protections you're putting in place."

Our advisors can provide you with all of the information you need to determine which type of private association, faith based association, or ministry can afford the most protections for your specific activities. Questions and Answers
(As supplied by the provider.)

Please explain what is a PMA?

A PMA is a Private Membership Association. The various types of private associations operate in a manner as to keep private business and private activities a private contractual matter between the association and the members. Keep in mind that law says "no state can pass any law that impairs the obligation of contract". The association is founded upon the principle that we have an unalienable right to associate. The Supreme Court has always held that the right to associate is synonymous with the right to assemble. An association is simply a group of men and women collectively exercising their right to associate in private.

Are there different kinds of PMAs?

Private Associations are commonly known as Private Membership Association, Private Education Association, Private Health Association, Private Ministerial Association (Faith based organization or FBO), Private Drinking Club, Private Social Club, Private Fraternal Organization, Home Owner Association, and others. Regardless of the style of private association, they are all forms of a PMA since you technically don't have an association without members to associate anyway.

What are some examples of PMAs, and their protections?

Examples may be, Drinking is allowed inside “private clubs” in “dry counties” in states of The united States of America where the sale of alcohol to the public is restricted or illegal; smoking is allowed inside “cigar bars” or "private clubs" in states having public laws prohibiting smoking in government buildings and in buildings open to the public; What may be illegal activity under statutes or public law are completely lawful activities in private. Those private venues have the same protections as private activities within your own home and those activities are governed by your own rules, not public law.

Do all PMAs offer the same protections?

The short answer is No. The protections your association has the ability to invoke will be determined by your founding documents. Likewise, all of the protections that are waived or surrendered, either knowingly or unknowingly will be determined within your founding documents. Documents that are not properly drafted, such as statutory compliant documents, will forfeit some or all of your private domain protections. Unfortunately most associations are founded as "statutory compliant" all because of what the founders of the association didn't know at the time the association was formed. There is no more important decision you'll make than the preparation of your founding documents. That is where you will secure or give up your protections of the private domain.
